Huntsburg Campus: The Farm

A truly exceptional life and learning environment, serving adolescents ages 12 to 18 years.

The Huntsburg Campus has a working farm, residential housing, program barns, bio-shelter and classroom buildings on 97 acres of predominantly wooded land.

The Huntsburg Campus is the first school of its kind to fully implement Dr. Montessori’s pedagogy for adolescents, integrating education on a working farm with a residential option. Dr. Montessori understood that adolescence is a time of intense preparation for adult life, and as such, requires focused study on how humans live and work together.

In addition to engaging in a college-preparatory curriculum including math, science, history, language and arts, staff at the Huntsburg Campus guide students to gain experience in life skills, including: public speaking, entrepreneurship, cooking, working with fellow students and managing a budget.

The student experience at The Huntsburg campus is truly unique and must be observed to gain full understanding. We invite you to visit our campus to learn more. You may also download the brochure below and watch the video of our 7th-12th grade campus.

The Adolescent Community at Huntsburg

Programs at the Huntsburg Campus serve students from 12 to 18 years

“The essence of independence is to be able to do something for one’s self.”

– Dr. Maria Montessori

As students interact on the farm and in their local community, they understand how society is organized and learn division of labor. Compassion, diplomacy and collaboration skills are developed through experiencing human interdependence. Relationships with animals, plants and the planet are also emphasized, as the importance of sustainability is personally experienced.
